Danielle’s Digest: Week of 5/15/16

[ssba]

This week on the Digest you'll see some tasty pictures of what I ate (yes, I did eat the same salad 3 times in one week), some things I'm excited about, a little peek at a new recipe and where to find it, and even a behind the scenes picture of the cover shoot for Celebrations!

2I was incredibly honored to be amongst some of the world-changing women that were at Forbes 30 Under 30.
It's in part due to all of you for nominating me last year for the 30 under 30 as someone in the food world who is making an impact and changing lives, so thank you!
I always associate Forbes as defining success by money (which is why I was so surprised to have made the under 30 list last year! ?) But this gathering had nothing to do with money. It had to do with women achieving success (not monetary, although there were some badass entrepreneurs in that room!) by following their passions to inspire others and make an impact.
It's hard to pick my favorites and what impacted me the most but I especially loved hearing from Every Mother Counts, Alex's Lemonade, and Embrace Global, and am really happy to have connected with Feed Projects. I'm excited to get involved with all of these organizations!

3This was an amazing salad from the other night. It's the recipe on page 100 from Against all Grain, but I added some clementine slices and cilantro, and used the spicy almonds from my blog instead of macadamia nuts.

___ (2)I think flowers are one of my love languages. ???

66Veggie shopping and planting is tiring. The other little guy was sleeping on mama in the ergo. The good news though, is we now have a garden!

6Our dinner on a hot night this week. It was a repeat on that salad up above because it was so good, plus a bunless burger, sweet potato fries, and some fresh watermelon. I mixed a couple of tablespoons of the BBQ rub from Meals Made Simple into the hamburger meat before grilling and they were so good!

4Can't stop, won't stop with that salad (this is round 3 of the same salad). Plus honey Dijon chicken and tequila lime shrimp, and a grilled artichoke. Annnd a margarita. I have thoroughly been enjoying our summery dinners as of late! 🙂

44Mornings with this guy and his blue eyes are the absolute best. Our new morning routine is to tend the garden together. ?

33Here's a picture of me shamelessly posing with the photo of Ina Garten last week at Food Network studios in NYC because she's my all-time favorite and one of my biggest role models professionally and culinarily. Even though she doesn't know it! ?

7I finally found something to house all of my cookbooks! And sadly, the chair is no longer carried by Anthropologie. 🙁

9It was 93 out and this cool summery salad was the perfect lunch.
I used the Spicy Almond DressingSpicy Almonds, avocado, leftover roasted chicken, carrots, cucumber, nectarines, cilantro, and scallions.

55Scallops and bacon. Need I say more?

Ryan and I enjoyed a wonderful date at Va de Vi in Walnut Creek and we loved every bite of it! I think I'll have to recreate this dish in my own kitchen!

behind the scenes

And here's a little behind the scenes from my cover shoot for Celebrations. Tuck, pull, spray. Everything is constantly being fussed with! And I'm wearing the stylists boots because I forgot to bring shoes that day! ?

I recently snap chatted my way through Whole Foods and showed you all my favorite brands and tips and tricks I use while grocery shopping. You can see the video HERE!

I recently found out that Costco is pulling any copies that are left of my book to make room for my new book in the fall. So RUN to your Costco and grab a copy before they're all gone!! Ask them for item number 1043835.
Also, there's 2 signed copies at the Danville, CA store!

Here are some of my Costco finds for the day. I'm working on a video for you and will let you all know when it's up and ready for viewing! I was so excited with so how much organic and paleo friendly items they had!
