Hi Everyone! I hope you all had a great week and were able to enjoy that extra hour of sleep with daylight savings. My kids were not phased by it at all so, there was so such thing as extra sleep for us! I had an exciting and busy week. I took a very quick trip to Nashville where I did a shoot for the Pickler and Ben TV show. The episode will air in January so I will keep you updated! I posted another video and recipe of my Pepperoni Pizza Pasta and have a new one coming this coming Wednesday, so stay tuned for what I will share next!
For everyone in the US – can you believe Thanksgiving is less than two weeks away?! If you haven't picked up a copy of Celebrations yet, I have a full Thanksgiving menu, as well as desserts and other holiday favorites. Your guest won't even know they are eating grain-free! I also have a Thanksgiving timeline and shopping guide to help you stay organized and prepared for the big day!
Anyone celebrating a November birthday?! I have a whole birthday section in Celebrations that includes several different cake recipes, a dairy-free chocolate, raspberry or vanilla buttercream, a “cream cheese” frosting and a chocolate icing!
She's getting so big already!
I had a fun day filming the Pickler and Ben show. I showed them my Christmas Fudge recipe from Celebrations. The episode will air in January so I’ll keep you posted!
Always bittersweet leaving Nashville, but thankful for all of the trips out here lately.
Now to find another excuse to get out there again before the end of the year!
Thanksgiving is less than 2 weeks away! Here’s a sneak peek recipe from Celebrations!
I came up with this Smoky Candied Bacon Sweet Potatoes dish to make them savory instead of super sweet with the marshmallow topping. This recipe can be found in the Thanksgiving section on page 242 in my cookbook Celebrations but I’m giving it to you here today too!
All of the old-time favorites can be found in that chapter, and both grain-free and regular eaters will love them! Link in profile for the book!

RECIPE
Smoky Candied Bacon Sweet Potatoes
3 pounds sweet potatoes, scrubbed but not peeled
6 ounces bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces
1⁄2 cup pecans, coarsely chopped
1⁄3 cup pure maple syrup
1 teaspoon chili powder
1⁄2 teaspoon fine sea salt
1⁄2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1⁄4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line two rimmed baking sheets with parchment paper.
Cut the sweet potatoes into even 1-inch cubes. Toss them with the bacon, pecans, maple syrup, chili powder, salt, cinnamon, and cayenne in a bowl. Spread in a single layer on the prepared baking sheets.
Roast for 20 minutes. Stir and continue roasting for 15 minutes, or until tender. Turn the oven to broil and brown the potatoes for an additional 5 minutes. Watch the nuts closely and pull the baking sheets out early if they begin to burn.
Serve hot.
What is this extra hour you speak of?
Favorite soup for a chilly day. The recipe is in my Meals Made Simple, but I've also added it to the blog here.
A little backyard picnic on this crisp fall day with snacks from Hgo Farms. The crunchy freeze dried grape ones seriously taste like candy.
??? We have loved snacking on these and now they’re available on Amazon!
We were so excited to dig into these cinnamon rolls from Celebrations in the morning! When I make them – I use the dough from the Sticky Buns recipe on page 88 since we don’t have to be egg-free. I just use the dough from that recipe, with the filling and frosting from the Cinnamon Rolls. You can mix and match depending on your dietary needs!
I talked all about my recipe creation process for my books and gave lots of info on grain-free flours on my Facebook live yesterday! Press play to watch!
I uploaded a new video of my Pepperoni Pizza Pasta from Meals Made Simple. You can watch the video here and head over to my blog for the full recipe!

Hi Danielle, I want to purchase your Celebrations book and I love the idea of being able to take the kindle version everywhere on my iPad, but do you think it’s easier to use the hard copy? Help! Excited to get started.
Danielle
It totally depends! If you travel a lot then the kindle might be easier so you don’t have to carrier it around!

I wanted to share my family’s ‘review’ of a couple of your Celebrations recipes we tried over the Thanksgiving holiday. Your Smoky Candied Bacon Sweet Potatoes are out of this world!!! It was my favorite dish on our Thanksgiving table. And your Maple Pumpkin pie is equally outrageous! This the best (and of course, the cleanest) custard pie I’ve ever made and/or eaten. Thank you for your commitment to creating recipes that balance clean eating with tradition for the rest of us to enjoy.
Danielle
Thanks so much for sharing!

Hi Danielle and Merry Christmas (one week early)! I have 2 questions about the Cinnamon Rolls recipe on YouTube. First of all, thanks for posting it. It’s always helpful to see a video. I have the Celebrations book and I see that in the video, you are using the recipe for the “Sticky Buns” recipe for the dough (page 88) in order to give another option for the Cinnamon Rolls in the book, which are made with other things. Two questions. 1) Since you are using the same dough, why do you let the Sticky Buns recipe dough in the book sit in the fridge for 30 minutes to firm up and when do you baked the Cinnamon Rolls in your video right away? 2) I thought that when using baking soda and apple cider vinegar for leavening, you need to get them into the oven asap since the rising begins as soon as those two ingredients are combined. What is your reason for letting the sticky buns dough sit for 30 minutes? Are there other needs that outweigh the need for the rise? Or does the dough still rise even after letting the dough sit for 30 minutes? Gluten free baking is so tricky and I’m curious as to the reason for your method since it’s not one I’ve seen before. (Can’t wait to try these cinnamon rolls!!!!!!)
Thanks!

I – just wondering if you might have an opportunity to help with my question. I know you get so many questions and thought maybe you might have missed this one. Many thanks!
