My potato peeling hack!

And some yacht rock kitchen jams! 💃
🥔🥔 🥔

I was surprised to find myself triggered by all of the posts today for national daughter's day. I didn’t even know it was a thing (but then again there are a billion other national days for random stuff I’m not aware of).

But I was taken off guard by all of the sweet photos of mamas and their girls. Beautiful newborns, toddlers, elementary schoolers, teenagers, and grown women who have lived beautiful lives so far.
I thought about it all day. And I don’t always jump on board to post for these things (unless it’s something related to chocolate because… 🍪)

I have the immense joy of having 2 daughters. And they’ve both profoundly broken my heart, made me who I am, and changed my life for the best in ways I never thought imaginable.

My Aila taught me to be resilient. To get back up after I thought I could never breathe again. When I didn’t want to breathe again.

To realize our time on earth could only be minutes longer and to celebrate and take joy in the time we have. And to use what little time we have to make an impact. To take gut-wrenching pain and make it beautiful.

And my Kezie. She taught me to dance again.
She taught me that it’s ok to have hope again. And she gave me back so much of my heart that I thought had to be buried with Aila forever. She put a smile back on my face I wasn’t sure I would ever see again.

So happy national daughter day, to mamas whose baby girls that they dreamt of as girls themselves are no longer in their arms. And to the mamas who get the privilege of raising strong, confident, empathetic girls on earth. And for those who are yearning for them like I did for so many years.

I just made this Pineapple Roasted Chicken with Spiced Turmeric Cauliflower from my friend @ayeshacurry’s brand new cookbook The Full Plate – which is full of easy recipes for busy cooks (with no time and a lot to do!) and it’s SO good.

Are your kids at home or on campus? Asher is home, virtual learning, but we’ve still been packing a lunch every day for him so it’s ready in case I’m in a meeting or on a call. Plus it helps me feel more organized and less stressed.

We make packing a school lunch as easy as 🔤 with @primalkitchenfoods condiments to keep things fresh and exciting.

A vocado Oil Mayo
B ufflao Sauce
C ilantro Lime

Just to name a few of my faves. 😍

Did you go apple picking this year? My mom took Easton picking up in Sebastopol with my niece and sister-in-law last week and we have a great case of apples to use up!

I’m making a batch of these gluten-free and paleo Apple Spice Crumble Muffins this weekend.

The video at the bottom of this recipe on the blog is still my favorite of ALL time. 🥰

My adventure girl 💜

How cute is her little hat 😍
