Hi everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful week and enjoyed some time off with family and friends. We went on a little family vacation before Christmas with all the kids to Mexico for some much needed relaxation and family time. We came back just in time for holiday baking, time with family, and of course to open presents with the kids.
This is my favorite time of the year and watching the excitement in my kids eyes is priceless! I hope you all had a great Christmas and enjoy bringing in the new year with your loved ones! For those of you who are starting a January Whole30 to reset for the new year make sure to check out my Facebook and Instagram posts for compliant recipes or recipes that can be easily modified to accommodate your Whole30. I also have a section dedicated to Whole30 on the blog and a Meal Plan for Whole30 in my book Meals Made Simple!
It was a Christmas Fudge making day. It makes the best gifts!! This recipe is on page 312 of Celebrations!

Rough life
A bunch of you asked where we vacationed last week – we were in Punta Mita! We love this vacation spot, and even more so because it’s a quick trip from California. Most of the places on the resort are super accommodating to gluten-free and even grain-free diets. ?
We visited both the Four Seasons and the St. Regis, but stayed in a home nearby.

I forgot to print my cards and send them out, and Easton refused to look at the camera in every single photo. But hey at least I had my act together enough to schedule family photos and design a card!!
?Merry Christmas everyone! ?

We sent him back to bed and made it 2 more hours.

The best gift I get every year is getting to be a part of your holiday celebrations and help maintain your family traditions, reimagined to be Grain/dairy-free. It was so fun seeing my books under your trees, and my recipes in your kitchens!!
This retro classic is straight from my grandma’s recipe book, with just a couple of modifications to make it paleo and Whole30 friendly. You can find the full recipe on the blog!
I’ve been getting so many DMs from nervous people starting the January Whole 30 in a few days! The Whole 30 team has tons of amazing resources and books, but if you have my Meals Made Simple book and want the 4 weeks planned for you, I’ve given you meal plans to use! I also have a huge W30 category on my site.

Hello Danielle.
You have a beautiful family. I pray for joy each day with them and continued blessings on your ministry.
I have a question about hair loss. (I think you experienced hair loss when you were at your sickest). I just found out that I have hypothyroidism (minor enough that the drs said don’t worry about it).
I am talking to a holistic nutritionist who has given me some support for my thyroid (which has made me feel better) and a prenatal multivitamin which I have been taking for the last 4 months…but I know I have continued to loose more hair.
Can you recommend any natural things/
Tests/ holistic drs/ to help me further figure out why my hair is thinning out all over the place? It doesn’t come out in chunks but just thinning and not growing as well. There have been auto immune diseases in my family as well in the past but nothing shows up so far in my blood tests.

Thank you so much Danielle for sharing your story-all of it even the really rough times. I have had GI issues for many years, but it got worse after having my gall bladder out in 2005 after my sweet daughter was born. Drs. just don’t get it, but you and others are right on with your “against all grain” approach. I am tired of feeling less than human, battling GI issues almost daily, hair loss, and not losing weight no matter what I do. Not to mention the brain fog and no energy.
I have all of your books and have been reading through them, gathering my kitchen tools and purchasing some of the staples. Next stop…making your recipes and following your plan!
Thank you so much!
Cathy
