Welcome to my weekly download!
I’m asked so frequently about what it looks like to live a grain-free life day to day, what new products I find or recommend, and what I eat on a daily basis. So I’m going to start sharing a new blog post recapping my week for you guys! I’ll try to catalog my meals, snacks, grocery and market shopping finds, and even some of my fashion finds on occasion! These photos, and much more, are also shared on Instagram, so if you don’t follow me there yet make sure to subscribe!
We made our way to PA for the weekend for a memorial for Ryan's grandparents as well as his great Aunt's 90th birthday. My favorite way to travel- makeup free, wearing comfy lulu, and my boys on each side of me.
This is my favorite snack as of late. Bananas slathered in almond butter! And I don't even take the time to sit down, plate it, or grab a napkin! Haha!
This is my favorite way to be woken up. He used to yell from his room when it was 7:00, but now he comes straight in and snuggles! When we got back from PA, the first morning at the crack of dawn he yelled from his room “It's morning in Pennsylvania!” Oh jet lag.
I used this beautiful fresh wild salmon to make my Blackened Salmon with Mango Avocado Salsa for a dinner this past week!
I've been recipe testing recently with lamb and am so thankful that US Wellness Meats has an abundance of grass-fed meats! Their leg of lamb was pretty incredible!
These recipes need a little bit more flavor, but I was so excited when I saw that my Whole Foods offers this! Nothing a little salt and pepper couldn't fix! I grabbed a few things for us to take to the airport and eat on our flight.
We started the weekend early this past week with my grain-free waffles topped with fresh strawberries, maple syrup, and dairy-free whipped cream!
I'm loving all of the chartreuse tops out right now! This one isn't maternity but the length and flow works for a growing belly!

I was so thankful for the 400+ comments you all left me on Instagram when I posted this! Now to start looking up all of the products you recommended (and yes, I know that insert under Asher is a no-no now!).
It's been 5 years since we had a baby in the house and I researched this stuff. I emotionally purged everything we had saved from Asher when we lost Aila and even chucked out my car seats and Bugaboo (I know crazy…) I started looking around last night and it's totally overwhelming and there's so much new stuff out there!
Make sure you check out my latest Youtube video. I made my Grain-Free Wraps!
Everyone kept asking what pans and other cookware I used so here you go!
Paderno World Cuisine 9 1/2-Inch Carbon Steel Crepe Pan– Amazon
Williams-Sonoma Edge-Grain Carving Board– Williams-Sonoma
Le Creuset Enameled Stoneware Batter Bowl– Macy's
Anchor Hocking Glass Measuring Cups– Williams-Sonoma

I’m really enjoying your blog Danielle! You are truly amazing and such an inspiration. I look forward to reading more : )

Thank you!

Danielle,
I have a 20 year old son diagnosed with UC in December 2013. Been throught Lialda, Remicade and 2 hospitalizations with Alex and we can’t get him in remission. He is in a constant flare and has lost 30 pound since last fall that he couldn’t afford to lose. I am at the point that I am seriously looking at the SCD or GAPS diet, even though his GI at Mayo doesn’t think it will help. I don’t want my son to lose his colon at 20 years of age. Any advice you could provide on how diet has worked for you? He will be home from college in two weeks for the summer and I want to start the diet program then.
Best regards,
Rebecca Mickelson

Hi Rebecca, I know you addressed this to Danielle, but I wanted to add a comment for you. I have been a nurse for over 35 years and I know all too well how traditional American Allopathic medicine works. Most physicians are not well educated in nutrition and I am not surprised that the GI specialist you saw does not think the SCD or GAPS diet will not help your son. All I can say, is do your own research. There is so much good information on both of these diets, and some good books (my favorites are “Your Personal Paleo Cure” by Chris Kresser and “Perfect Health Diet” by Paul Jaminet and Shou-Chin Jaminet.) Diet is one of the most important areas of our lives and truly what you eat can affect every part of your body. I recently went on Chris Kresser’s eating plan, tailoring it to my personal needs and it has made such a difference (I don’t have UC or IBS but do have some food intolerances) Best of luck.

Rebecca,
My 16 y/o daughter was officially diagnosed with UC in April 2014, but we suspected it in January 2014. I stumbled upon VSL#3 on a UC support page and decided to try it. It’s a strong probiotic for people with GI isses. You can read more about it on Amazon if you want. And, at that same time, a friend recommended I look into the AIP diet. That’s how I found Danielle’s blog. Her recipes are the b-o-m-b for AIP. They are tasty and delicious! Within ten days of my dd starting the diet & VSL#3, her symptoms finally quit. It had been eleven worrisome weeks for her at that point. Since then, she has had one more flare due to a “sloppy” diet, if you will, and once she hopped back on the AIP, she was better in just a few days. Unfortunately, my 18 y/o son was also diagnosed UC just last week. And, here we are again. Trying to get his symptoms under control as well. I just want to say- have hope and stick with it, whichever diet you end up trying. I just wanted to reply to let you know that we have indeed had luck with the AIP diet. Best wishes to you & many prayers for the good health of your son.
