DANIELLE’S DIGEST: WEEK OF APRIL 3OTH

[ssba]

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great first week of May! We just got back from a family trip at Disneyland and then I went straight to Mom 2.0 Summit where I was able to see some great friends and listen to some inspiring talks! This week's digest includes my new recipes for my homemade play-dough, Nacho Cheese Sauce, and an inside look into our family trip! Scroll down to see more.

My gf playdough recipe is up for you!

I have a (long) story for you. As I was making my morning coffee in my Today Show mug today I was reminded of my cooking segment I had with them last year when Celebrations came out.
When I first started food blogging and writing cookbooks- being on TODAY was my ultimate goal. When my first cookbook came out in 2013, I was in NYC for a book signing and woke up at 4am to go down to the plaza in hopes of handing a copy to each of the hosts. I tucked 5 copies into a backpack (those puppies are not light!!) and waited until they came out to greet everyone.
I put them in the hands of @savannahguthrie , @alroker, @nmoralesnbc and Matt. Apparently Al sent a producer back out looking for me later that morning but we had already left! I only know this because we made a friend who was standing next to us with her daughter and she messaged me on Facebook later to tell me!?
Meals Made Simple came out and still no call from TODAY, so I set my sights on getting on with my next book in a couple of more years.
Then it happened- we pitched them Celebrations at the end of 2016 and they agreed to have me on. It was such a surreal moment seeing a huge goal I set for myself come to fruition.
Moral of the story is persevere and keep pressing into what you feel called to do and the goals you hope to accomplish.
Next goal? Go back on and cook with @hodakotb with the release of Eat What You Book in December!! Oh and the @theellenshow and my own @foodnetwork show. Lofty, but not impossible!

Coffee maker can be found here by the way

We were running on little sleep (because babies/toddlers in hotel rooms… ? ?), but Day 1 at Disneyland was nothing short of magical!

Day 1 recap! Easton wanted a hug from each of the characters. Asher was so afraid of them when he as that age! ?Did you know I have a guide to eating gluten-free and somewhat paleo in Disneyland?! Find it on my blog and YouTube channel. It’s pretty old so I’m thinking we’ll come back soon so we can update it! I wouldn’t be mad.

I'm excited to share this new recipe with you guys! It’s all all veggie based and no grains, lactose or nuts! I kind of can’t wait to get home and make it again.

Fun fact – Asher got this brick as a gift when he was born. We thought it would only be at the park for 8-10 years and then replaced with someone else’s but they changed plans and it’s staying (for now!) It’s right outside of the entrance to Disneyland.
Disneyland became our special place when I was pregnant with Aila and we escaped down here quite a bit after we lost her to cheer us up and remember her. I tried to get a brick for her too but they had stopped selling them, so it’s Asher’s special thing!

So fun and inspiring to see friends and hear some great talks at Mom 2.0 Summit on Thursday!
