Danielle’s Digest: Week of 6/5/16

[ssba]

I'm asked so frequently what I eat when I'm traveling, so in this week's digest I'm sharing some of the things we ate on vacation. There's a lot more in last week's digest as well so make sure to take a look there for ideas!

Love sunny days with my sweet boy ☀️

aMost delis will do a lettuce wrapped sandwich for you if you ask. It's a nice option when everyone else wants sandwiches! I typically look for deli mea that is gluten-free and free of carrageenan. At Whole Foods, you can get fresh roasted turkey sliced for you and they'll make you a sandwich with it!

dI was so excited to find this gluten-free wine and food pairing at Round Pond Estate. Every bite went perfectly with the wines they were paired with!

zThis delicious meal from Farmstead was roasted garlic and warmed burrata with pickled veggies, a margarita made with honey, and a grilled artichoke. I can't get over how beautiful these colors were, and somehow it even tasted better than it looks!

xWe had this arugula, nectarine, almond, radish, and goat feta salad at Farmstead to accompany the rest of our meal. It was so delicious!

cHere's the main course we enjoyed at Farmstead. It was brick chicken with verde sauce and I asked to sub in broccoli for the beans they usually serve it with.

vHalfway through the trip I switched from family time to girl time. So much laughter, deep conversation, great food, and wine (of course). I love them all so much!

nThis was a mezcal, passionfruit and blank ancho salt cocktail alongside a peach, prosciutto, arugula, burrata, and caramelized onion salad from SolBar which is one of my favorite restaurants in Calistoga!

nnI'm showing you how to make my Real Deal Chocolate Chip Cookies on my YouTube channel! I also uploaded a few of my snapchat stories on my channel so stay awhile and explore some of the dozens of videos I have over there.

mThis is the comfiest chambray romper ever.

mmWhen one of your best friends leaves for home across the country, lots of tears are shed.
It's rare that you find someone in life who really gets you. “One of the best things that ever came from the worst thing.”

ssThe entire meal at the Lakehouse Calistoga was photo-worthy tonight, but the first course of charred octopus with citrus salad and sunchoke purée was the highlight. It was sous-vide for 4 hours before being charred in a wood oven and was phenomenal!

ffThis veggie hash with a poached egg and tomatillo sauce was such a fresh and delightful breakfast. I love that all of the veggies were grown on site. Thanks Calistoga Ranch for a wonderful stay and incredible food!

hhHere's the dinner I made on Facebook Live this past Tuesday! The sweet potato fries were roasted in the leftover bacon grease. You can see the video HERE.

jjjIt's officially summer for us and we'll be making ice cream all summer long! And the best part is there's no ice cream maker required for this Mexican Chocolate Rocky Road Ice Cream!

solbar

This was one of the best things I ate in the 7-course tasting menu at SolBar. It was pickled white asparagus and onions, steamed green asparagus, prosciutto, crispy capers, all on top of deviled egg filling.

The best snack there is. I can't get enough of all of the fresh fruit that's in season!
