This week I went on a quick trip to LA, spent quite a bit of time with E as he's had a cold, and I've been showing all of my friends on Snapchat some exclusive tips and tricks and snippets from my daily life! If you have a Snapchat, make sure to add me at againstallgrain!
He's already getting so close to crawling! He's been trying to keep up with big brother, and Asher is so excited for him to start moving around more!
I had a great time chatting with Jamie Ivey on her Happy Hour Podcast. We chatted a lot about my paleo lifestyle and I shared a little bit about losing our daughter Aila almost two years ago, including what not to say to a bereaved parent and what things you can do to be there as a friend or family member. You can listen HERE.
Easton was up at 5 AM because of a cold. So, as anyone would do, we killed time playing with snapchat filters haha! He and I both got a lot of laughs out of this cute doggie filter!
Want to know my Bone Broth routine and get exclusive tips and what not? Make sure you follow me on snapchat! E and I walked all of my friends on Snapchat through my Bone Broth routine. You can find me by searching againstallgrain
Sol Food does gluten-free sandwiches made on giant to stones! It was delicious!
We had one last day of photoshoots for book 3 and this was the best thing I could think of to end my day! Epsom Salt bath soaks are just the best. You can find this bath soak HERE.
Here's one of A's lunches this week. He has been obsessed with clementines recently and he will even eat his hamburger cold which just means easier transportation to and from school! And when I run our of my Whole30 Compliant Ketchup, my back up go-to is Sir Kensington's ketchup which you can find HERE!
Since it was National Toast Day, I celebrated by making a loaf of my Blender Bread! And I think we could celebrate a different food every single day..
I’ve been making lunches this week for the son of a friend of mine who is battling an illness. It’s so difficult to think of ways to practically help someone when all you wish is that you could just make them better.
I remember the most helpless feeling was not being able to provide for Asher when he was 9 months old and I was in the middle of the worst flare up of my life. I ran out of milk from losing so much weight, and was too weak to even pick him up. I experienced that feeling again when I couldn’t save Aila. As mothers, we don’t want anything to get in the way of providing for our children and making them feel loved and protected. It’s simply the worst when we physically can’t.
If you know someone who has a family, and is sick or even just going through a tough time, think about what you can do to love on their kids. I know for me, that meant more than meals for Ryan and I, well wishes, or even prayers. As women, we often don’t want to accept help, or may not even know how to answer the question of “what can I do to help you.” Don’t wait to be asked, offer whatever you can, and I promise, it will bless that person tremendously. Also, throw in a few treats. Kids are perceptive. They know when their momma (or daddy) is sick and they hurt with them.
I had an early morning flight to LA this past week. Keep your fingers crossed guys, these were some exciting and important meetings! I'm really hoping to bring my story and healthy eating to a *much* larger audience….
Of course my flight was 1.5 hours delayed. I did my makeup in the car and barely made my meeting!
I love a hotel with good room service. I subbed out polenta for more veggies and asked them to use olive oil instead of butter. Not opposed to butter, in fact I loooovvee butter, but I try to only eat grass-fed dairy and I doubt hotels use it. Starwood Preferred Guest Hotels are great about accommodating special diets by the way!
Some of my favorite things: hotel robes and an 8 o'clock bedtime. Mommas tired, folks!
And it was the perfect ending to a great trip getting to spend a bit of time with my friend Catherine from Weelicious. I only wish that sweet baby of hers would have woken up in time for me to get some snuggles!
I missed this squishy little guy!
PS Loved Baby makes my all-time favorite organic cotton jammies. And I just couldn't resist the umbrellas! You can find them HERE.
One of the sneak peeks/tips I chatted about this week on Snapchat was my hair routine. If I could have snapped and curled it for you, I would have, but I don't have 3 hands! 🙂
And some Digest exclusives for you all…
This photo and the next two were all taken during our last day of photoshoots for book 3… and can you guess what part of the book this photoshoot was for? It was quite the day but I think we ended up with plenty of options to choose from.
And this is what the back of my shirt looked like… full of clips and tags! Ahh the nature of photoshoots!
It's surprising to me how tired your face can get after smiling for 8 hours straight. 😉
I subbed in some extra spinach for the mashed potatoes at a restaurant in LA and the chicken came out with a wonderful crispy skin!
I've taken to eating some of the foods Easton is loving recently, like avocado! I just sprinkled it with sea salt and fresh cracked pepper and ate it as is. Also, if you know me, you know that I don't eat fruit unless it's cut up… and that's why I love Whole Foods berry and fruit cups so much.
