This week I'm reminded of how fast time flies. Easton is already a month old! What?! We took lots of walks, tested a few recipes, and ate lots of baked goods. 🙂 Sometimes a piece of my Blender Bread with almond butter on top or a cookie is all I have time to eat between nursing, rocking, and playing with Asher!
This was my first time trying out a ring sling! I borrowed my sister's My Wild Bird and both Easton and I loved it! I love how easy it is to put on and still being able to move around and get things done!
Meatloaf muffins and cauli-mash from my Against all Grain cookbook topped with my Whole30 friendly BBQ sauce from the blog, with a side salad with pears, avocado, and spicy almonds!
Since we brought Easton home 3 weeks ago, Asher hasn't left the room without kissing him on the head and if he's sitting nearby he always wants to have a hand on him. But he refused to hold him for the last 3 weeks, I think because he was nervous something was going to happen to him or that he'd get too attached and then he would go to Heaven like his sister. He held him finally the other day and it was such a sweet moment. Now he asks constantly and always looks so proud when he has him on his lap. Sweet brothers.
I was so excited to see these at Costco! You know what else is at Costco? My cookbook, Meals Made Simple AND I heard that Against all Grain (my first cookbook) will be stocked there during Fall!
This little dude has been loving his baths and we are loving this super cozy towel by Pottery Barn Kids!!
There has been a lot of this lately… catching up on some much needed sleep during the day while Asher is in school!
After our mishap with our other lunchbox, we got both a Planet Box and a Yum Box! I think they'll both come in handy for different things. This Rover is still a little big for my little guys small appetite (and short lunch period), but I can see us using it for a long time as he grows. I'm going to have to start getting more creative on the food side though!
Ps why does this box bring out ocd in me? If Easton wasn't hungry and crying, I would have stood over it arranging all of the food in perfect geometric shapes for way longer!
We enjoyed some BBQ Pulled Chicken and Cole Slaw from Against all Grain over a piece of Blender Bread from Joyful all accompanied by a simple green salad!
My sweet family threw a little sip-and-see for Easton since I didn't have a baby shower. We had one planned in June but I wasn't ready emotionally and had to cancel it, so it was really special to celebrate his life with an intimate group of our closest friends and family, and to have my sister and niece here from Denver!
These Real Deal Chocolate Chip Cookies are sometimes the only thing I have time to eat… I'm not complaining though 😉
Big and little feet! I can't believe what a difference 5 years makes.
Dinner date out with my love :).
Kapow. Zap. Bam. That's what baby E and I say, Monday! I am loving these cute little diapers from Honest Company.
I have been loving these chilly Fall like mornings recently! It's the perfect weather for my daily walk. It makes me want to go home and bake something pumpkin and put on some Vince Guaraldi!
He's my little workout buddy and keeps me company on my morning walks.
This right here is one of my favorite views. Easton all cozied up and asleep in my arms and a Real Deal Chocolate Chip Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich in my hand that Ryan “cooked” for me!
I love having a loaf of my Blender Bread on hand so I can make a quick AB&J when I need it! You can find the recipe for my Blender Bread in my eBook Joyful and you can watch me make it here!

Great idea!

It’s great to see these amazingly lovely pictures of you and Easton so healthy. We think of you and your family often and pray for all of you. I had a question. We love your food. Our issue is my husband has multiple sclerosis and muscular dystrophy. Within 24 hours of finding out, his company fired him (legal in PA). Disability denied him twice saying he can do a job like taking tickets at a movie theater. No one will hire him because they somehow find out about the MS and MD (also legal in PA). I also do this diet for my daughter with celiacs, raynaulds and MD, as well as myself. I have Mastocytosis, celiacs, and lupus. How can we eat grain and dairy free for five people on an income of $18,000 a year? I have tried to be creative, but one mind can’t think of everything. Any suggestions welcome.

I am so sorry to hear about your situation. Do you have any local farmer’s markets? My aunt is low income and she told me that her local farmer’s market provides her with little to no cost produce. I guess it wouldn’t hurt to ask:) Also, do you have any space to garden? It is fairly inexpensive to start your own seeds. There are websites where you can connect with other people in your community and trade your home grown goods. I am from CA, not sure if all of this is available to you in PA. Good luck!

We have local farmer’s markets. We live in Lancaster County with Amish. The farmer’s markets are not friendly. Amish take care of their own. The rest of us English people (anyone who is not Amish is English no matter their race or culture) are outsiders. They will take your money, but not help. The one big farmer’s market here is Central Market. It’s an historical farmer’s market. It’s fantastic, but VERY expensive. We don’t have space to garden. I have a few pots of fruits, vegetables, and herbs, but not enough to feed us. I wish we had more property and be like the Amish and Mennonite around here. They have “kitchen gardens” to grow as much as they can for feeding their families. Whatever can’t be eaten is canned for winter months. I have never heard of trading. I keep trying to to get food banks to have allergy friendly food and more produce and meat. Farmer’s can’t sell all their produce. There has to be some produce going bad in the fields or in storage that didn’t sell at auction. Why not help those in need?

Sorry. It’s a mute point today. Social Security is telling me my daughter with muscular dystrophy who uses a wheelchair and walker with many medical needs is no longer disabled. They are taking her SSI away. We are down to $700 a month for a family of five. Survival mode has kicked in. We no longer have the luxury of fruits, vegetables, or meats. Pasta and pancakes are the only thing on the menu. Thank you for your advice. I’m still checking if I can find help from another county’s farmer market. I wouldn’t have if you didn’t mention it.

Stef- you need to contact an attorney or legal aid in your area who handles children’s SSI claims. Neither will charge you for the first visit. You may be able to appeal within 10 days of the notice and keep her benefits going. Either way, you need to appeal this decision within 60 days.

I’m meeting with an attorney on Tuesday. I hope she can help.

Excellent! I hope she can as well.

Hello, Danielle Walker! I have a son named Asher as well! He is 12 and has some immune issues. He was born with Vitaligo. This last February, he developed a rectal abcess. We dealt with that for 4 months. Because of Asher’s wish to not have white patches of skin, we have decided to go gluten free. This is our 1st month. I believe that in the long run, Asher will be more healthy. This is a scary, lifechanging step for us. I am grateful for the bloggers out there that have developed recipes for us to try. God bless!
Danielle
Hi Sandra- I hope your Asher finds full healing and that you are both encouraged in this crazy process towards health! You can do it! 🙂

Thank you Danielle!
