DANIELLE’S DIGEST: WEEK OF MAY 28TH

Happy June everyone! Scroll down to see what we ate this week, a look into our Memorial Day Weekend, 2 new recipes, & some behind the scenes of my quick trip to LA for some meetings and the Step Up Womens' event!

Last day of school and a sleepover calls for Real Deal Chocolate Chip Cookies! ??? You can find the recipe here!

Love long weekends and sleepy, long mornings.

?? ♥ ??

Swimming, hammocks, bbq, and family time. My kind of day!

2 funny stories about this photo from the 4th of July chapter (which makes for a great Memorial or Labor Day spread!) of Celebrations.
1 – we needed more people in the photo so the guy behind me is the incredible prop stylist from the book @glennjenkins. The other people in the full photo are my sister and her kids, Asher and Ryan, my assistant Sydney, and the photographer’s assistant. Everyone always asks if the guys are family members of mine ?
Second – our poor photographer @erinkunkel injured her leg so she she was shooting this scene while driving a motorized scooter ??? We were all dying laughing.
Oh, and this was shot in February in between rain storms!

Have you ever eaten seaweed salad at a sushi restaurant or poke place that looks like the first picture?
Click here to make it at home and read why it should NOT look ghostbusters-green, but actually muted earth tones like the second picture! Also read up on other hidden ingredients at sushi and poke places!

Ever wonder what sushi or poke ingredients contain gluten or other unhealthy ingredients?
Head over to the blog for this new Poke Bowl recipe with Vital Proteins marine collagen sesame-ginger sauce to see my sushi guide and make this at home!

Come to LA. Get Sweetgreen. Repeat.

A little work by the pool in between meetings. Not mad about it!
? ? ?

Açaí bowl and almond milk coffee to start the day!
Looking forward to the @stepupwomensnetwork inspiration awards today!

Inspiring day at the @stepupwomensnetwork event today. I worked with Step Up as an intern with a PR firm in LA over 10 years ago and have respected and loved the work they have done ever since.
Also I finally got to meet the amazing designer behind my initial necklace @maya_brenner and catch up with my friend who I adore @weelicious!

Flew down to LA yesterday for meetings and to attend 2 events, and I’m already on my way home to put my babies to bed! Love how close it is!
