In case you haven’t heard me shouting it from the rooftops yet, Against all Grain made the New York Times Best Sellers list for the month of August!! I am beyond grateful for all of your support and am blown away with how many people are buying multiple copies to send to family and friends for gifts or simply to inspire someone who isn’t well to get healthy by sharing my story. I’m getting ready to head back out on tour again in October and cannot wait to continue meeting all of you to give you my thanks in person!

Staples.com contacted me and asked if I’d like a Samsung tablet so I could see what my book looks like in Kindle form, but I asked them instead if they would give a device for me to offer to all of you! So in celebration of making the list, as well as just a simple thank you to all of my fans, I’m giving away this awesome Samsung Galaxy Note 8 16gb with my Against all Grain Kindle Book already loaded! If you already have my hard copy book, now you can slip this sleek and slim device into your bag when you go to the store or take it to the office with you to plan your meal for the night. If you’ve loaned out your copy of Against all Grain to a friend, you can prop the Galaxy Note up on your cookbook stand and go to town in your kitchen.

For the day to day : handle work, family, and fun with the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. Keep track of appointments, edit documents, and more with one slim and portable device. The Galaxy Note 8 tablet lets you control all the aspects of your life, from scheduling to gaming and networking. Polish presentations, organize family events, and access social networks without missing a thing. The tablet even functions as a universal remote so you can control your entire home theater on one screen.

I am a huge fan of your website and cookbook. I am relatively new to (strict-ish) SCD, and I have a question about your cookbook. A number of recipes are identified as SCD when they contain SCD illegal ingredients such as coconut aminos, tomato paste, sweet potatoes. Am I misunderstanding the legal/illegal list?

I tried to post this question a few days ago, but it did not get published. Thanks for your help.

    • Against All Grain

Hi Elizabeth – Sorry I issued a correction to the first edition of the book as there was an error with the SCD labeling, specifically for sweet potatoes. I recommend butternut squash as a sub.

Coconut aminos are likely legal but since they weren’t around when SCD was created, no one is completely sure. It pretty much fits the bill for legal though and a lot of people in the SCD community will use it. Tomato paste is legal as long as it is strictly tomatoes and not in a bpa can. I like Bionaturae in the glass bottle. You can also make your own tomato paste if you’d like.

Thanks so much for the reply. I noticed another ingredient I am concerned about – ground flax seeds. My family loves your N’Oatmeal cookies, but can I have them now that I am on SCD?

        • Against All Grain

Technically they’re not legal but the cookies can easily be made without it! It’s just in there for texture

I look forward to your Facebook posts and have purchased your book…just waiting for it to arrive. I’d love to win the tablet as then I can more easily access your newer recipes that aren’t in the book on line right in my kitchen! Keep up the great work!!

I just purchased your book and ready to run to the store to buy all the ingredients to begin cooking. You made me want to cook again & my happy excited that they will not be eating just meat and lettuce anymore :-) Thanks.
