I am so excited to tell you all about this book from my friends Jen Hansard & Jadah Sellner! Their book Simple Green Smoothies is all about getting yourself to create healthy habits and the best you all starting with a simple smoothie. This book is full of so many amazing and creative recipes that our family loves! It has detoxifying smoothies, dessert smoothies, a kids section, and even smoothies full of vitamins and minerals that will help your rid your body of that nasty cold (recipe to follow!). Jen & Jadah do an incredible job of explaining what each ingredient in the smoothie is doing for your body and why you want to be eating it.
Asher has been loving smoothies in the morning recently and it's so fun to let him flip through the book and pick which one he wants. And want to know the best part? I can trust that whatever recipe he picks, he's getting in so much nutrition, vitamins, and minerals that will kickstart his day without him even knowing it!

Citrus Cold Recovery
Catch a cold? Try this green smoothie to help nurse yourself back to health! Beets are loaded with antioxidants like vitamin C, which can help boost your immune system. Flaxseed oil contains both omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids; having a proper balance of these fatty acids is important for brain function and heart health.

So I have to be completely honest, I really haven’t tried very many smoothies at all. I just started drinking smoothies a couple weeks ago, I was a “eat it whole” girl. So, the one (of the 2) I’ve tried and liked was 2 cups of spinach, 1 cup of kale, a good couple handfuls of frozen fruit (and I realized anything with pineapple and strawberry here is my favorite) and no sugar added apple juice! Super cold and super tasty!! Can’t wait to try out this cold blaster, it sounds delicious.

I borrowed this book from the library just to see how I would like it. I LOVED IT! Everything I tried was fabulous! My favorite was the Red velvet. So yum! We’ve been using their recipe for pineapple mango as well- my kids drink that up without even thinking about it! I’ve got this on my “wish list” but it would be fabulous to win it instead!
Anne
My favorite smoothie is: 1 cup mixed berries (frozen), a large handful of spinach, small handful of ice cubes, 1/3 cup homemade almond milk, teaspoon of vanilla extract, 2 tbsp raw cacao powder, and a sprinkling of mini chocolate chips on top!

Thanks so much for posting this wonderful recipe!! While I don’t have a cold, I did have all of the ingredients (even the lovely golden beet from the farmers market that I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to do with it), and this smoothie rocks! LOVE that’s it’s healthy for our family. My wonderful, firefighter husband just started a round of chemo to battle severe skin cancer due to chemicals from his job and I’m doing my part trying to give him all the healthy nutrition I can. Really appreciate knowing about this wonderful book!
Danielle
