Danielle’s Digest: Week of 2/28/16

[ssba]

Hi everyone! I've been busy testing some new recipes and even doing some coconut flour tests for you all so we can really see the difference between all of the different brands of coconut flour. Check out the photo down below to see what I tested first! I also showed the Today Show how to make veggie noodles this week, and worked on a new recipe for the blog. Plus I'm showing you a few of my meals this week. Read more about it all in this week's digest!

Big_updates_on_my__cookeryapp__Some_of_my_favoriteBig updates on my app, Cookery! Some of my favorite parts about this update is that you can add your own notes to the recipes on the app, and it now has nutritional information for each and every recipe including allergen information! Click HERE to read about the other updates and download it now if you don't already have it!

Android users, I'm so sorry to say that we still don't have an update for you yet. We're really working hard to try to get the developers to make a version for you, there's just been a lot of roadblocks!

I_love_these_chunky_feet_and_the_chunky_hands_that

I love these chunky feet and the chunky hands that match them! Can't believe he's 6 months today! His new favorite food is chicken or turkey mixed with bone broth. He surprises me with what he likes and doesn't like! I always underestimate babies taste buds. I talked a little about feeding him in last week's digest

Late_lunch_of_chicken_salad._I_had_leftover_rotisserie_chicken_from_Whole_Foods_so_I_mixed_it_with__primalkitchenfoods_mayo__dill__pickles_and_s_p_and_dipped_plantain_chips.

My lunch the other day was leftover rotisserie chicken mixed with Primal Kitchen Mayo, dill, and some pickles. And I used plantain chips to scoop it up! Be sure to be on my mailing list to see how you can get a free jar of this mayo! My newsletter will go out on Sunday and will tell you more. Sign up for it here.

Apparently_the_small_squares_are_for_little_kids.Apparently the small squares of seaweed are for little kids. These are SeaSnax brand and I get them on Amazon

I_had_fun_showing_the__todayshow_how_to__spiralizeI had fun showing the Today Show online how to spiralize! Click HERE to watch my tips on prepping butternut squash, sweet potatoes, and beets!

Sometimes_dinner_isn_t_glamorous_and_it_looks_a_lot_likeSometimes dinner isn't glamorous and it looks a lot like kid's food. Actually baby food, because I stole that butternut squash purée (with ghee and sea salt) straight from the jar I made E. And the frozen steamed broccoli is Asher's alternative to salad for his green each night. I didn't have time to fuss with burger toppings or even a lettuce wrap, so it was my new ketchup recipe, mustard, and avocado. And you know what? Simple is delicious! No filter on this baby. Just a real dinner.

It_s_Banana_Cream_Pie_Day._For_this_one__I_will_definitelyApparently it was Banana Cream Pie Day this past week. For this one, I definitely jumped in and celebrated. Also, I'd like to meet the person behind creating all of the national food days. There's so many it's silly.
This Black Bottom Banana Cream Pie can be found on my blog HERE, or an improved version is in Against all Grain (page 272).

I_guess_the_old_ballerina_comes_out_in_me_whenI guess the old ballerina comes out in me when I stand on counters to take pictures. ? I've been working on that coconut flour comparison test for you! Keep your eyes peeled for the blog post.

Look at the orange on the pastured-organic egg compared to the organic (soy-free). The deep orange from the pasture-raised hen is the way it should look! Although sometimes I get tired of eggs for breakfast, a good egg really is a game changer itself!

And some Danielle's Digest exclusive photos for you all…

I used the sauce from the Ginger Chicken and Broccoli in Meals Made Simple (page 126) and added a few other veggies for a quick stir fry. I love that this sauce doesn’t use a starch to thicken it.

This applesauce is a new recipe that is coming to blog soon and it uses the instantpot pressure cooker!

slack_for_ios_upload_720-2

I’ve been loving using the applesauce that I mentioned above warm on top of breakfast sausages in the morning. I have been using the awesome Primal Palate Breakfast Blend and adding a little nutmeg to these. I made 3 dozen and keep them in the freezer for an easy breakfast. And a little avocado for some extra fat to keep my milk supply up! You can find the recipe for my Maple Sage Breakfast Sausages in Against all Grain on page 32.
